Friday letter

Okay...that's it for the valentine letters/notes...there are more...but I'll save them for another time. like after I learn how to use the scanner and it doesn't take me so darn long to complete a task..haha
One would think that I could get better and better at these tasks as I go along...but one day I can do it without a hitch...the next I'm back at square one....go figure. Anyway...I hope to some day scan all these notes and compile them into a book or something....or rather...have SOMEONE ELSE scan them...etc. I would ask my brother David...but we then we might never see them again.hahaha *He has good intentions...but is always going in many directions at once. They are fun to read through and they bring a smile to my face....and also give me a little glimpse back in time.

Wednesday Letter

******PLEASE click on this picture to see the details...all the little notes on each day...they're hilarious!
Actually...this letter wasn't sent on a Wednesday, because Wednesday was one of the days Dad was able to go visit my mom. See Wednesday the 9th...that cracks me up!
I can just picture my father on the days he was home alone...coming up with his next idea for a note to my mom...haha. She must've liked getting the mail every day...never knowing exactly what to expect....
It 's funny how times have changed.... a lot of people don't write letters much anymore...but I think a little note in the mail is better than a text message as far as I'm concerned.

More Love

I figured there were too many of these letters to quit after just sharing one...so here's another. And....if the scanner doesn't drive me insane trying to figure out exactly HOW to use it...I might put up one a day for the rest of the week.
*Mynew dream is to someday buy a new computer and enroll in a class to learn how to use the D$%# thing without getting so frustrated. I like writing this blog and adding photos, etc. Sometimes I get really aggravated with myself because one day I can do a task...the next I have to remember what/how I did it...because I am the type of person who learns by doing. I can "learn" one time...but unless I keep doing it...I forget some of the steps in the process...and it is very, very frustrating! Maybe this is why I was never good at algebra...haha...among other things. Oh well....I managed to get this letter from the new scanner (knew how to work the old one...haha) to the desktop to the blog...so I'm good for another day and I didn't take waste too much time. Now...I am off to walk the dog. :)

Love Notes

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

The next picture is an old "love" letter my dad sent my mom...when they were dating. At the time my mom was living in Springfield, Massachusetts...and dad was in Hartford, Connecticut. He was only able to get over to see her a couple of times a week...so on the other days...he wrote little notes and letters. There was a whole box of them that my mom saved...Fun! My dad had quite a sense of humor...and there are all kinds of quirky, fun, letters and notes...but one thing is clear...he really loved her!

Public Library Lovers Month-Visitors

We are celebrating Public Library Lovers Month aka how can we get people to give us more money Our Friends of the Library group has always been very generous and they work hard to raise money and fund programs and buy materials for our library. We are VERY lucky. To celebrate the month of February...we have several programs going on.
Last weekend we celebrated Chinese New Year and this week we had not just one, but two programs. Tuesday night we had a Theatre Ensemble put on a program. Yesterday we had Olivia and Max in for a visit. Here's the costume just waiting to "come to life"
We had two great teen volunteers that agreed to put these big heads and the rest of the costume on and greet the fans.
The girls (mostly) and boys were so excited to see them...we had a mob of people. Lots of Moms, Dads, grandparents and excited kids. Unlike the Disney characters...ours talked to the kids...which thrilled them. A few got scared,,, I always feel bad for the parents when their kids want nothing to do with the characters...Mom is so excited...meanwhile kid is hiding behind her crying. They keep trying and trying to get a photo...but end up giving up. (I know Megan was not particularly fond of Santas or Easter Bunnies....so I know that feeling when you realize you are just not going to get that picture!) (but really...who wants to traumatize their kid for a picture!). But I never let it bother me too much....It's hard for the young mothers who want their kids to be happy and fun loving just like everyone else's kids...and sometimes...they just aren't. Some kids don't want to be in the group at Storytime...or dance around when we do the songs...etc. Moms with more than one child...or grandparents who have been through it...just kind of go with the flow..... But...yesterday most of the kids were excited to get up close to Max and Olivia and smile!
Susan and I were very busy at the front desk...we never stopped for 4 hours...lots of books coming in...going out and several Library cards being issued...along with a little more noise than usual! hahah It was a busy but satisfying day.
When I got home and took Kiena for a walk...there were some really interesting clouds. I had to walk fast to get around the block before they were gone> There was a blanket of clouds and then this break...with a feathery looking part...actually there were two...it almost looked like bunny ears...but by the time I took the picture one half was blowing away. We went to Reid and Amy's for dinner and saw a nice sunset on the way. Kind of cool.

Animal Kingdom & Magic Kingdom

The day after the concert Megan and I decided to do a little "park hopping" over to Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom. John couldn't care less if he ever goes to Disney again...but me.....that's another story. I love it...really ...I love going. It's nice to live here and not feel like I have to see/do everything in one day because a. you can't and b. it's no fun when you have to rush around and kids get kind of cranky! Soooooo I can always count on Megan to accompany me (or me, her) when she comes to town. And February is a wonderful time of year to go because it's not as crowded and it's not too hot!
If you go to Animal Kingdom in the summer....the animals (like us humans) are too hot to do much "entertaining". They just want to find some shade and sleep. But in this cooler weather and first thing in the morning (or in our case 10:30am) all the animals seemed to be out and about. Did I mention it was also feeding time...so they were out and eating.
Still laugh when I remember a friend of my parents talking about their first trip to Busch Gardens (I think) and it was mating season...so they saw it all..all kinds of animals...haha while the kids were wondering what the heck the animals were doing! hahahaha
Our "safari" ride was fun. We had to snap pictures along the way. There were lots of hippos keeping cool in the water.
More elephants than I remember from the last trip there. A few babies...and "teenagers" haha
Flamingos...Megan's favorite.
After our safari (no waiting to get on!) we were off to Asia...looking for Mt Everest. I really love the way the park is "decorated" especially Asia. all the vintage looking signs...the details...like I said...being an "Imagineer" would be a fun job...money for whatever you need...I could go to town.
We had what Megan says is the best deal in the park for lunch...Chicken Fried Rice and Honey Chicken in Asia.

Then we were off to Dinoland. Rode the dinosaur ride and took a few photos. The little "roller coaster" is being refurbished...so we didn't get to do that...and it was raining so we passed on the "flying dino" ride. We caught the "Finding Nemo" show. If you go...you should see it. Wonderful puppets.....like the ones in the musical Lion King

Our favorite spot for hot or iced tea. We ALWAYS stop here!

And after lunch...it was off to the Magic Kingdom. Looks crowded...but it really wasn't. (There were some characters posing for pictures nearby.)
Cinderella's castle...of course
Megan and I stopped to pose by the statue of Walt Disney and Minnie Mouse.
First stop...Tomorrowlad! We went to Buzz Lightyear's ride...always fun...no real wait for us... when there is a line.....the line usually moves pretty quickly.) At one point the ride stopped...but we did NOT stop shooting our laser guns...so we racked up some points! Megan beat me.
Next Megan went on Space Mountain while I powerwalked over to get some fast passes for Peter Pan's Flight...because that ride ALWAYS has a line...but we love it! Megan got her brain rattled around on SM...so we took a little break on our all time favorite People Mover....when the kids are cranky...when your feet hurt...when your tired,hot________...the People Mover will do the trick. We rode around twice...haha

is the song in your head yet??
We made our way over to Frontierland (by train)...saw the pirates, the flying carpets...then the Haunted Mansion...before we worked our way back to the carousel. Last stop the Cinderella fountain and one last wish in Cinderella's wishing well. We thought about staying longer...but it was Super Bowl Sunday...and my Steelers were playing...AND my brother-in-law was in town on business...so we joined up with Tony, Andy & Cathy, Allen, Herman & John for the big game. (and some good ribs)

Megan flew home Monday morning...I went to work that afternoon and........... it's already Thursday! Time flies. Meanwhile...Megan and I still have two days left on our tickets....just waiting for the next opportunity to arise!
