Tournament results

We decided to head up to Grills...for the Awards Ceremony from the two fishing tournaments held yesterday. The SISA tournament had been postponed because of bad weather...so they combined the two tournaments yesterday. Anglers could weigh their fish at both spots.
As I mentioned...Mike Roy and his boat won 2nd Place Kingfish. They got $700.00 at the first tournament and today they collected another $250.00 plus a rod and reel and some Costa Del Mar sunglasses. Al won 2nd Place in the Dolphin category yesterday...the same fish came in 3rd in the Shootout tournament. As the t-shirt says...it was a North vs South shootout. You could fish from Port Canaveral or Sebastian Inlet. A group from the port had the winning dolphin....so Al was bumped down to 3rd Place. The No vs So contest was also a fundraiser for the Space Coast Early Intervention Center...they raised about $22,0000, between entry fees, t-shirt sales and a boat raffle. The winner of the new boat was a woman who just happened to be at the restaurant eating lunch. She bought a $40.00 ticket and an hour later had a new 22 ft boat! Not bad!
The only bad thing about the get together was the swarms of lovebugs...it made the deck at Grills look sort of like the set of a horror movie. There were swarms of the bugs on all the windows and they were all over the tables and chairs..and consequently all over everbody's clothes (those white shorts with smashed bugs...yuck!), hair, etc. At least they don't bite!
I almost forgot! The South won!(handily) They will have a trophy on display at the Sebastian Marina for the year....and next year they will shoot it out again.

SISA Tournament

John was not in the fishing tournament today...but he wanted to go down and see what was happening at the weigh-in. Plus we had a $50.00 gift card from Captain Hiram's...so we could get a bite to eat in the process.
Things were winding down when we arrived...but we noticed our friend Mike's boat on the board - DEAMBRICO with the 2nd place King fish.
We also saw Al (Longdogger's Al) from the Johnny H20 with the 3rd place dolphin....eventually he was bumped up to 2nd when the 2nd place winners were disqualified for not weighing in on time.
They told us they got caught in a terrible storm while offshore...50 mile an hour wind gusts...pouring rain and LOTS of lightning. NO THANKS! I guess it didn't seem so bad when they realized they had won some $$$$$!
Meanwhile Ron & Ben were still out on the water getting towed in by Boat Tow-USA...and the Coast Guard. They had engine trouble, got caught in the same storms AND lost a couple of fish! Needless to say...they did not have a good day! Oh well.....some day it will all make a good fish story.
Courtney was smiling because not only did they place 2nd in the SISA tournament...the same fish got second in the Strike Zone tournamnet going on up the river a bit. (SISA was postponed from two weeks earlier...decided participants could enter both on the same day...so the king fish won 2nd place (we think) in both tournaments! Not bad. Courtney was also smiling because they also won their bet with Al...for biggest fish. (They beat him last year too) and last but not least...she was smiling because we offered her a ride home (in the car) with us...so she wouldn't have to go by boat through more storms still in the area. :)

Mother's Day plants

For Mother's Day last week I got some nice cards from John and Brenna and my godson David. I also got a box with some plants from Megan.

One is a new Hibiscus..."Sanibel Yellow". Apparently it's a new variety...and I am one of the first to own it...pretty cool. Let's just hope I am also NOT one of the first to KILL it.
actually I have a pretty good record with Hibiscus...don't ask about orchids...haha
I also got a croton...which I love because of the bright colors on the leaves. we have one croton in the back...but it's mostly yellow/green/orange. This new one has red/green/yellow.
I bought some new pots...some potting soil and I am going to see what I can do!
They also included a snippet of a "Knockout Rose". It's supposed to be easy to grow...but roses have always kind of scared me....so time will tell. But I like my new plants!

Maybe it was the camera...not me??????

GIMME A Y! GIMME AN E! GIMME AN S! WHAT'S THAT SPELL! YES!

I can't believe it!!!!!!! I had to check out two books on Windows 7...to try to figure out what I was doing....and then decided maybe I ought to buy a new scan disc for my camera in case that was the issue. I put the new disc in...took a photo of one of my Easter decorations I still have out...imported it...and then put it on the blog and it WORKED!!!!!!!! I am so proud of myself!....I don't care if anyone else cares....I DID it! This simple task was really DRIVING ME CRAZY!....I was thinking of who I could call to help me...checked out a couple of books first and decided there was no way it could be as difficult as I seemed to be making it. Of course it wasn't...but I am happy! and tired...it's 11:41pm So you'll have to forgive me...for this ridiculous post...but I am going to bed with a smile on my face.

Still working out the kinks

Okay...so we've had the new computer for over a week now...and I am slowly
figuring out how to do things. It's certainly faster...but still frustrating...just in different ways! I got my ITunes straightened out....(1st priority...haha)and I am still working on the %$#@ photos. I am learning all the tricks of Windows Live Photo Gallery. I even checked out a book...but unfortunately for me...those how to books might as well be in another language...they never make complete sense to me...I need someone to show me how to do something...then when I read it it makes sense. I am trying to think who I can get to show me.......... I love all the things I can do with the new program...some photo shop stuff we didn't have before...and you can get a nice slide show going...now if I could just figure out how to get my pictures from point A to point B...I'll be in business. At this point I don't know if it's me or the camera that has the problem....because I have most of my photos on the computer...but can't seem to import the latest ones. I follow the instructions...and then I can see them....(so I know there on here somewhere...:( .......but I click on View 2 items...and nothing happens....so I am driving my self crazy still working on it...trying not to b&*^% too much...and one of these days....VOILA! there will be photos on my blog!

Looking for pictures

After the tornadoes last week in Alabama...Brenna left town for a few days and headed up to TN to see Uncle Ken, Aunt Sandy, Chase , Liz & Solon & Allie. They had no power in Huntsville...so she didn't have to go in to work...and she had no power at home...so she decided to head out of town. Luckily other than power outages...Huntsville was fine. But many people lost everything! I went through my closets today and packed up a box of new/and hardly used clothes, which I am sending up to Brenna. I figure she can find a church or club up there collecting clothing and put the items to good use. I had some things I bought , but for whatever reason didn't really wear/use...so why keep them hanging around. As my friend Jamie put it recently...they are "things that need a more appreciative home". I hope they find one. In the mean time...you can find out more about other opportunities for helping the survivors of the tornadoes....by going to www.shelterforthesouth.com

Now back on the home front....
We finally got a new computer...which is wonderful...except now I have to figure out how to do things on it with Windows 7. I miss my old picture/scanner thing...because it was so easy...I keep trying to download photos...but so far...no luck.
We went to a fun party last Saturday- Chuck & Pat's annual crayfish boil.Later that same night we had a surf movie at the Library. A local guy made the film and we arranged to have him show it on a Saturday night...we aren't normally open then...but the boss and I went in and made it happen. We had 50-52 people...so it was a good turnout. Had to leave the party early...but my boss canceled her plans for that evening too...so I can't complain. It was my idea to have the program...boss went along with it and the crowd seem very appreciative. All in all it was a good night. I have photos from both events...but haven't managed to get them from the camera onto the computer and onto the blog yet. I keep trying! ( I need my own Tech support group!) I am also getting my I Tunes back in order... (I can't do without THAT!) I am making more progress with the I Tunes I am happy to report. When I finally figure it all out...I will spruce up the blog with photos once again!

Royal wedding

So I woke up and watched the wedding festivities...William and Kate's that is. My mother LOVED watching Prince Charles and Diana's wedding...she watched the whole thing...all day I think. So..I had to watch it...and think of how much my mother would've enjoyed all the pageantry, the music, the hats...the celebration.(She would've had something to say about the unfortunate outfits on Princess Eugenia and Princess Beatrice.... seriously...what was the deal with those hats!) It really was like a fairy tale. And the best thing is...they all looked HAPPY! and really in love. CHEERS!
